How We Research

Wavesscandinestl is an independent briefing site for people choosing between Scandinavia's coasts. One question drives every page: which shoreline suits which traveller?

What we cover

Norway's western fjords, Sweden's archipelagos and Baltic islands, Denmark's islands, and the Arctic island chain of Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja. Åland appears where it fits common itineraries.

Our Sources

Figures such as fjord lengths, inscription years and island counts come from primary or official sources wherever possible: UNESCO World Heritage listings, national park and environmental agencies, national tourist boards, and operators' published route descriptions. Where sources disagree, as they often do on island counts, we round and say "about".

What We Leave Out

We do not publish prices, live timetables or opening hours. They change too often to keep accurate. Instead we describe the stable character of a place: its geology, history, access pattern and season. Always confirm schedules with the operator before you travel.

Independence

We accept no payment, free trips or commissions from ferry companies, hotels or tourist boards, and the site carries no affiliate links or advertising. External links point to official or reference sources only.

Corrections

If you spot an error or an outdated detail, send a note. We review reports, check them against a source, and update the page.
